Common questions

Something not working as expected, or a feature missing? Write to info@radltracker.app — ideally with your device and system version, that speeds things up.

  • Recording stops when the screen turns off

Then the “Always” location permission is missing. On first launch the app only asks for “While Using”, because that is the gentler choice. In system settings under Radltracker → Location you can switch to “Always”. On Android it also helps to disable battery optimisation for Radltracker — some manufacturers otherwise kill apps after a few minutes.

  • The map turns the wrong way

Radltracker aligns the map to your course over ground, not to the magnetic compass. When you are standing still there is no course — then the compass takes over and the map turns as you turn the phone. As soon as you ride off, actual heading counts again.

  • How do I import a route?

Three ways: tap the magnifier on the map and search for a destination. Or paste a link from Google Maps or Apple Maps under Rides → Routes. Or open a GPX file and choose “Open with Radltracker”. In every case Radltracker computes the cycling route from OpenStreetMap data — never the driving route, and not the one from the service the link came from.

  • The camera view does not start

Check the camera permission in system settings. The very first time, a safety notice appears that you have to confirm. And the view requires Radltracker Pro.

  • The line in the camera image sits beside the road

The line is computed from your position, your heading and the tilt of the phone. Mounted firmly on the handlebar and facing forward, it lines up. Held at an angle in your hand, it moves with it. Poor GPS reception — urban canyons, tunnels, dense forest — can throw it off as well.

  • Managing or cancelling the subscription

Subscriptions are managed by the store, not by the app: on iPhone under Settings → your name → Subscriptions, on Android in Google Play → profile → Payments and subscriptions. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period.

  • I switched devices — are my rides gone?

Rides live on the device. An iCloud or Google backup carries them over when you restore the new device from it. You can also export individual rides as GPX beforehand and import them on the new device.
